  I agree - from an arts/ education/ cultural perspective, it looks really bad - like a terrible attempt by a council to be "yoof". In fact, it reminds me a little of a graffiti tag - but maybe that's what they were going for...

  graffiti maybe, but it's not even good graffiti! or "yoof" for that matter. it's not even like it's creatively symbolic or anything.
  
  it's horrid.
  
  I'm really shocked. I expected to find out that it's some spoof or something. I'm ashamed to call myself a graphic artist in light of that embarrassment.

  I heard some old Tory say it was "ghastly" - pronounced gharrrstly, of course - on Radio 4, and I thought it would just be a bit rubbish.
  
  But that is actually alarming. Surely if they stick it up anywhere it is going to lead to car-crashes.
  
  I'm expecting invitations to the Facebook 'Ban the 2012 olympics logo' group any minute.

  That truly is awful.
  
  They've even got a 'create your own design' section - which I'll call the 'we spent half a million quid on this garbage and don't want to admit we wasted our money so can you get us out of a hole by doing a new logo for free?' section.
  
  Although I suspect their title is snappier.
